About Us
Our club, Buffalo Fork Settlers, is dedicated to preserving the history of the Fur Trade Era in frontier America. “Buckskinning,” as it is called, is a quest for a simpler time based on friendly, honest ways.
At our Rendezvous we reenact the times between 1700 and 1840. We recreate the common gatherings, food, games and everyday life of those days gone by.
Members of our club take part in many family events not limited to but including: black powder and archery shoots, hawk and knife throws, primitive camp outs, children’s games, crafting contests, sharing of knowledge and skills and enjoying good meals. Most of which is done while enjoying the beauty of nature.
We are modern day Buckskinners with the heart and soul of real pioneers, trappers and hunters. Based in the Jones County, IA, area club members come from all over Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. Artisans, musicians, athletes, and colorful characters make up our group paying tribute to our nation’s historical past.
